Our colleague in Vancouver, Andy Ali, Branch Manager, National Supervision, iA Private Wealth, was one of 10 supporters of Movember Canada whose whiskers were chosen to be featured on billboards in public spaces across Canada.
From November 30 to December 6, 2021, Andy’s impressive facial hair display helped educate passers-by in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver about men’s health. On the photo, we can see Andy and his creative moustache on a screen in Dundas Square, in Toronto.
Here are a few comments from his personal Movember fundraising page:
Changing the face of men’s health: one dollar, one whisker at a time!
Having a stiff upper lip might be good for growing a moustache, but it can be disastrous for your health. Many men die too soon because they ignore or downplay health concerns including prostate and testicular cancers, mental health, and suicide. Enough!
For 13 years in a row, Vancouver iAPW Branch Manager Andy Ali has marked Movember with a Mo - a different one for each year. His fave? Maybe the Monkey Tail from 2014 grown while visiting South Africa. Thanks to his creative whiskers and dedicated fundraising efforts, he has raised more than $25,000 to stop men from dying too young.
Andy’s “Mo-tivation” is simple and deeply personal. "My father-in-law Wally died from prostate cancer. My first Movember in 2009 was Wally's last. With your support, we can stop fathers, husbands, friends, and guys like Wally and me, from dying too young. Please donate today!
To help Andy raise even more money, iA Financial Group made a donation through its donation policy for employees who get involved in their community. It should be noted that Hormidas Laporte and Bernard Leonard, founders of iA Financial Group over a hundred years ago, also sported remarkable moustaches. It’s too bad there wasn’t more awareness of men’s health issues at the time!
Movember is the only philanthropic organization dedicated to men’s health around the world, year-long. Their only goal: to keep men from dying too young.
Thank you and congratulations Andy! The volume of your facial hair is only equalled by your generosity.
