Sarah-Line Beaulieu is doing her part in the fight against colorectal and stomach cancer

Our colleague, Sarah-Line Beaulieu, Manager, CRM Centre of Expertise, was at the heart of the organizing committee for the Soirée digestive, held on September 14 at the Château Frontenac in Quebec City.

Beyond increasing awareness about the disease, the event raised substantial funds toward the acquisition of a surgical robot for the CHU de Québec-Université Laval university health centre.

Sarah-Line shares her experience and tells us what inspired her to get involved:

“I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in April 2018, but was fortunate enough to have been screened in time. After multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation I thankfully beat my cancer. Once I recovered, I wanted to organize a benefit event to collect donations, but realized that there was no foundation dedicated to this type of cancer, which affects more than 6,000 people in Quebec each year.

So, in January 2019, I started the Colorectal and Stomach Cancer Foundation, in association with the Fondation CHU de Québec. Since then, we have completed multiple projects, including providing free screening training for family doctors, creating an informational website, offering educational modules and purchasing radiation therapy equipment.”
